  • 1. Mojito

What's a better party drink than the minty Mojito on a gloomy London night? It's infinitely more fun to party with one of these in hand. It's minty, tangy, and bubbly and gives you that carefree feeling like the last day before the summer holiday

The popularity of the Mojito began with Ernest Hemingway during this time in Cuba. It is said that the original Mojito was a medicinal drink to curb disease on the island of Cuba. The drink took on the name El Draque, until it became the Mojito. Mojo is an African word for magic, and we all know what can happen once you have had a few Mojitos.

You can sip your Moijitos with No5's freshly made, utterly delicious salsa, tacos, shrimp ceviche, or carnitas. In terms of snacks, rum goes well with the combination of sweet and savoury with a hint of spice, so you can enjoy your Mojito with No5's special presentation of dried fruits, nuts, chocolates or cheese.

  • 2. Old Fashioned

The Old Fashioned is the foundation and pillar of the cocktail world.

In 1862, one of the founding fathers of the bartending world, Jerry Thomas, published Jerry Thomas' Bartenders Guide: How To Mix Drinks, which includes one of the first written instances of the name "Old-Fashioned." The recipe of the Old Fashioned Holland Gin Cocktail is as follows: "Crush a small lump of sugar in a whiskey glass containing a little water, add a lump of ice, two dashes of Angostura bitters, a small piece of lemon peel, one jigger Holland gin. Mix with a small bar spoon. Serve."

Enjoy your night with No5's specially made Old Fashioned recipe, which will transport your taste buds to all new heights. We garnish with an orange slice and a maraschino cherry. If you want to be as happy as a lark then you need to try your cocktail with one of No5's ravishing pastries, such as our chocolate tart.

  • 3. Margarita

Is there ever a bad time to serve margaritas? The Margarita, with its tart, tangy simplicity, is probably the most well-known tequila cocktail in the world.

The Margarita was invented by an Irish man named Madden in 1936. While traveling in Mexico during the United States' Prohibition Era, a newspaper editor sought out a bar to get a drink. That's where he met the bartender, Mr. Madden, who explained that he accidentally picked up the wrong bottle when making a Daisy for a customer one day. However, Madden lucked out: the customer loved the tequila version of the drink so much that he told all his friends, and word soon spread about the new cocktail.

If you get bored of the classic Margarita, you can find spicy, sweet and frozen variations of margaritas at No5 and enjoy it while watching the stunning show of our samba dancers. There are any types of Margarita to suit everyone at No5, from pomegranate to patrón.

  • 4. Espresso Martini

One of the few ersatz martinis to be worthy of the name, the espresso variety is perfection in a glass; simple, stimulating and utterly delicious, it's as good after dinner as a short, sharp pick-me-up before heading out for the evening. Perfect if you want to make it to midnight in London!

The honour of this deliciously smooth cocktail invention goes to British bartending guru Dick Bradsell. He is credited with revolutionising the cocktail scene in London in the 1980s. The story goes that Bradsell created the drink – originally called The Vodka Espresso, then the Pharmaceutical Stimulant – at Fred's Club in the late 1980s. A young model, who Bradsell claims is now world-famous, sidled up to the bar and asked for something to "wake me up". His solution was a combination of vodka, fresh espresso, coffee liqueur and sugar, shaken into a frothy mix of bittersweet addiction.

For coffee lovers, the espresso martini is the caffeinated cocktail of choice. At No5, we use freshly brewed espresso, and a dash of coffee liqueur for a real flavour hit. You will be impressed by No5's sophisticated presentation and meticulously prepared, frothy top layer and won't be able to stop yourself from ordering again and again.

  • 5. Caipirinha

The caipirinha (kai-purr-REEN-yah) is the national drink of Brazil. It's the most popular cocktail in the South American country, and everyone has their own way of making it. A type of spirit similar to rum, cachaça is the base of this simple Brazilian cocktail.

The Caipirinha appeared first in the state of São Paulo, more precisely in the city of Piracicaba. Some historians claim that it was ordered in the 19th century by landowners as a party drink, replacing whiskey and imported wine. Others claim that the caipirinha was created from a recipe with lemon, honey, and garlic, which served to cure the Spanish flu.

The caipirinha is one of the most refreshing drinks you can mix up on No5's elaborated menu. We suggest sipping the No5 Caipirinha on a fun British party night to awaken your senses! So take a seat, sit back and enjoy your drink like never seen before in the heart of Hornsey.

  • 6. Cosmopolitan

The legendary Cosmopolitan is a simple cocktail with a long history. It reached its peak popularity in the 1990s with the HBO show "Sex and the City".

The origins of the Cosmopolitan cocktail are a little fuzzy. There are a few people who claim to have invented Cosmo. The most popular theory is that it was created by Cheryl Cook, the Martini Queen of South Beach, in the 1980s. Cook was surprised by how many ordered the classic Martini cocktail, just to be seen with the glass in hand. So, she decided to create a new drink that was similar to the Kamikaze but used cranberry juice rather than lime juice. This sweetened the taste, made it look more visually pleasing and appealed to more women.

A cosmopolitan is a perfect balance of sweet and sour with a deliciously fresh hint of citrus. For guests who want to try an even fancier version, we at No5 add a splash of champagne to your finished cocktail or try replacing the vodka with tequila if that floats your boat. You can indulge in different and exquisite flavours in our version of specially made Cosmopolitan.
